Case 1 : MonsterVintage

MonsterVintage, a seller of fine vintage clothing, built a web site to sell their inventory. The majority of their daily work went into managing products on the web site. The time it took to process a single clothing item through its lifetime at Monster Vintage was more than 45 minutes. They needed to reduce the work time drastically in order to make the business profitable.

After developing a problem definition, it was clear that Monster Vintage needed a degree of automatic to help process their items.

FastTrack Designs developed a database-driven system that allowed MonsterVintage to manage all aspects of their clothing items online, from defining new items, to assigning photographs, to specifying descriptions, prices, and a category for each product. An interface was built between this product catalog system and Monster Vintage's existing shopping cart so that items would automatically be removed from the site when they were purchased.

With this new system, Monster Vintage was able to reduce the amount of time per item from 45 minutes to just 5 minutes.

Case 2 : Employee Development Solutions

EDS is a business consultanting firm specializing in employee organization and development. One of the techniques they use to evaluate a company's corporate culture is an employee survey that summarizes its general quality as measured by several criteria.

EDS determined that the sheer volume of surveys they would need to process would be too great to be cost effective. They needed a solution that didn't require manual processing of each survey, and they needed an easy way to calculate the results of the survey quickly for a given company.

  Case 1

After paring down ideas for solutions, we determined that the best solution was to build EDS a custom web application. This application provided an electronic version of the survey online that could be completed by their client's employees. The company would be given a 3-day window to complete the survey for all their participating employees.

When the survey was completed EDS could go to an online reporting application and run a report on the surveys to show the client.

Case 3 : Harland Financial Solutions

HFS provides business software solutions for financial institutions. Included with the support for their customers is a web site designed to provide information, software updates, and other support tools. The existing system was noticibly slow and required a substantial amount of maintenance time and software update costs.

FastTrack analysed HFS's existing support site infrastructure and located the slow spots in the system (bottlenecks). Our solution not only sped up the system dramatically, it also saved maintenence, hardware, + software costs.

  Case 2

FastTrack achieved this by consolidating the support site's server machines and moving their database to a popular open-source software package. The software package was free, and this also resulted in the elimination of one of the servers in their system.

The implementation reduced the number of employees required to maintain the system from 5 to 2, and eliminated the need for expensive software updates.
